ABOUT JOHAN ANGUS
Johan Angus graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Design before being active in the design industry for several years until he decided to become a full time artist.
His paintings are studies of people, mostly from difficult backgrounds. The honesty of both their emotions, as well as their physical appearance, confront the viewer in a very direct way. The subjects are placed in a neutral background to emphasize these characteristics and in some way to give them a moment of importance – where they can be acknowledged by a society that would ordinarily pass them by.
Johan’s hope is that the viewer will experience the work, rather than necessarily just view and analyze it.
