Kenyan-born Kivuthi Mbuno is prominently featured in many books on African art and artists, including ”Contemporary Art of Africa” (Magnin and Soulillou), and “African Explorers – 20th Century African Art” (Vogel). Mbuno’s extraordinary paintings have been picked several times to represent Kenya in Pan-African art exhibitions. Combining his fine aesthetic sense with the stories and myths of his Wakamba people, Mbuno is able to produce paintings that hold both a lyrical beauty and vivid story-telling.
Self taught, Mbuno’s executes his unique visual vocabulary in a precise drawing style. This highly individualistic interpretation of nature, man and animal has remained constant throughout his artistic career.
